Diploma Supplement
The Diploma Supplement is a complementary document to the diploma (which is awarded at the end of a study programme). It contains a description of the origin country higher education’s system where the diploma is issued, it also characterises the institution which provided the education and awarded the diploma, the undertaken training and its objectives, as well as providing detailed information on the undertaken training and the achieved results.
The Diploma Supplement is a bilingual document issued by the awarding institution.
It is important to note that the Diploma Supplement is merely informative and does not replace the diploma nor constitutes proof of ownership of the qualification to which it refers. It must be issued free of charge whenever a diploma is given.
Following the commitments made under the Bologna process, Decree-Law 42/2005 of 22nd of February was published in Portugal. It approves the principles that regulate the mechanisms for the creation of an European higher education area, particularly regarding the Diploma Supplement. On 10th of January 2008, Administrative Rule no. 30/2008 was published to regulate article 39 of Decree-Law no. 42/2005.

How to request?
The Diploma Supplement is only issued for diplomas awarded in the Bologna system.
