The modern Public Administration faces new challenges arising both from the overall economic context and the ongoing Public Administration Reform in Portuguese society, deemed urgent and necessary for the country’s socio-economic growth and development. This is relevant not only from a domestic perspective but also within the framework of the integrated European space to which we belong.
New management techniques, combined with the transformation of certain public administration services and public enterprises, require new professionals equipped with specialized skills in areas such as accounting, management, and public administration.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Public Accounting and Management aims to train professionals capable of performing their work with a high level of technical and scientific competence.
Seeking to meet market needs, the Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração de Coimbra offers the Bachelor’s
Degree in Public Accounting and Management (LCGP), whose curriculum provides students with a set of skills and abilities, equipping them with the technical-professional knowledge necessary for practice in this specific field.
The aim is to address the shortage of professionals in public services with expertise in public accounting, as well as modern public administration and management, based on principles of economy, efficiency, and effectiveness, similar to those used by private organizations. With this goal, the program seeks to equip graduates in Public Accounting and Management with interdisciplinary skills and sensitivity, enabling them to solve real-world problems in the Portuguese context.
